About Your Teacher
I come to you with over 22 years of teaching experience. Although I hail from Columbus, Ohio (Go BUCKS!), I am very happy to call Apex, North Carolina my home. I have a Bachelor's degree in elementary education and a Masters degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. I taught for 16 years at Eisenhower Middle School in Oregon, Ohio then joined Daniels Middle School in Raleigh, NC for a couple years. I have been a proud Apex Cougar for five years and have taught freshman, junior, and senior English. I am the English co-department chair where I work collaboratively with Ms. McGee. Please ask me about joining Key Club as I am also the faculty advisor for this organization. When you step into my classroom, it is my hope that you feel that I am your number one advocate. It is my goal to not only help you succeed with the English Language Arts curriculum, but to succeed in life. You can expect me to work as hard, if not harder, than you throughout the semester. I will communicate with you regularly both within the classroom and via Remind, Canvas, and email. I ask that you keep an open mind; share your thoughts and opinions; communicate with me, your parents and your classmates respectfully; work hard; and take risks. I promise to challenge you so that you will become better than you are now, and even though you might think the task too difficult, I will be there to get you through it. Please remember that I am not a mind reader, so you will need to speak up if you are experiencing some difficulties. And even if you aren't, help me get to know the real you. Welcome to the PEAK! |
